Mieko Hirose, MD, PhD, is a pediatrician specializing in developmental pediatrics at Hakodate Central General Hospital in Hakodate, Japan. She received her MD from Akita University School of Medicine and her PhD in Medical Science from Tohoku University Graduate School of Medicine. She is board certified in pediatrics and child neurology in Japan. Her clinical focus includes autism spectrum disorder, neurodevelopmental and behavioral disorders, and parent-mediated early intervention. Dr. Hirose is a Certified Therapist in Parent–Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and a PCIT Within-Agency Trainer. She is also a CARE™ Facilitator and a Certified Therapist in the Early Start Denver Model (ESDM). In clinical practice, she implements PCIT, CARE™, and ESDM within multidisciplinary teams. Her recent publication examines PCIT as a therapeutic approach for children with autism spectrum disorder in Japan (Brain & Development, 2025). She also served as a co-translator of the Japanese edition of Parent–Child Interaction Therapy with Toddlers.
