Dr. Lyda Holguin-Gaviria (She, Her, Ella) is a counselor educator and supervisor, a licensed clinical professional counselor, and a national board-certified counselor. Currently, Dr. Holguin-Gaviria works as a full-time assistant professor for Divine Mercy University and sees clients in private practice. Dr. Holguin-Gaviria earned her Ph.D. in counseling at George Washington University and completed her Post-doctoral Fellowship at Florida Atlantic University. She has a master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling at Villanova University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from The Pontificia Universidad Javeriana in Cali-Colombia. She is trained in evidence-based interventions like Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Parent Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) which she is PCIT certified. Her clinical and research interests are dedicated to understanding mental health issues in immigrants and minoritized populations compromised as a result of trauma, poverty, discrimination, and other remarkable factors associated with the process of cultural adjustment. She proudly identifies herself as an immigrant in the United States.
