Dr. Sophia Magro is an incoming Assistant Professor of Psychology at Oberlin College. Her research focuses on the roles that families, teachers, and schools play in together supporting young children's healthy development and reducing risk for psychopathology. She is also interested in the evaluation and implementation of school-based early childhood interventions and educational policies. Her research has been published in top journals, including Child Development, Developmental Psychology, Journal of School Psychology, and School Psychology Review. Dr. Magro is also a practicing clinician and has nearly a decade of experience in outpatient, preschool, and community settings. Dr. Magro completed her predoctoral clinical internship at Duke University and postdoctoral training at Northwestern University and Lurie Children's Hospital of Chicago. She earned her Ph.D. in Developmental Psychopathology and Clinical Science from the University of Minnesota, where she was awarded the University's Best Dissertation Award, and holds a Bachelor's in Music and Psychology from St. Olaf College.
