Dr. Ashley Scudder is a research scientist at the Partnerships for Prevention Sciences Institute at Iowa State University. She is a licensed clinical child psychologist, a PCIT International–certified regional trainer and serves on the PCIT Training Taskforce and the PCIT International Task Force on Policy and Advocacy. Her clinical and research work focuses on helping evidence-based practices (EBPs) translate effectively into real-world settings so they better support children and families. This includes examining how EBPs fit within community service systems, developing and testing practical training and implementation models, and adapting established interventions for use with diverse populations and settings (e.g., autism, schools, primary care, domestic violence shelters, and corrections). She has provided clinical consultation to community-based PCIT clinicians for over a decade and has led large-scale PCIT training initiatives. She is on the graduate faculty in the Department of Human Development and Family Studies and serves as a research supervisor, working closely with students from Iowa State and other universities interested in early-childhood EBPs. Dr. Scudder is committed to expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based care within the communities where families live. She has served as Principal Investigator/Project Director on multiple PCIT-related research and implementation projects, including Fostering Resilient Rural Elementary Schools through an Evidence-Based Multi-component System Supporting Teachers and Students across the Risk Spectrum, and is a co-editor of the Clinical Handbook of Advancements in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy.
