Dr. Erica P. Messer is a clinical psychologist and Associate Professor at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC). She is a PCIT International Regional trainer and has provided PCIT for over two decades, directing the PCIT program at CCHMC. She provides Basic PCIT, Within Agency Training, and Certification Preparation workshops with Dr. Robin Gurwitch. In 2005, she took the primary lead in developing the Child Adult Relationship Enhancement™ (CARE) training and materials with her colleagues at CCHMC. She first worked to formally evaluate CARE’s effects with foster parents through collaborations with Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia and then led an RCT of CARE through a local foster care agency. She has championed CARE implementation and dissemination in the United States and internationally.
