Steven Kurtz, PhD, ABPP, is President of Kurtz Psychology Consulting, P.C., a specialty mental health practice serving the emotional and behavioral needs of young children. He specializes in the assessment and treatment of externalizing behaviors (e.g., ADHD, oppositionality) and severe anxiety conditions, including selective mutism and social phobia. Dr. Kurtz is a Board Certified Diplomate in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology (ABPP) and a Global Trainer in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). His team has contributed important innovations in Teacher-Child Interaction Training (TCIT), an adaptation of PCIT for school settings that brings behavioral coaching into classrooms to support teachers and young learners. He is the developer of Parent-Child Interaction Therapy Adapted for Selective Mutism (PCIT- SM), an empirically supported treatment, and the creator of the Mighty Mouth and Brave Buddies intensive group programs for children with selective mutism.
